Grandmother Twylah Hurd Nitsch Wolf Clan Teaching Lodge WCTLCD1 CD:
(Full Price)
Length: 77.24 mins.
Reviewer: Nicholas Breeze Wood

This is a wonderful CD of stories by Grandmother Twylah Hurd Nitsch, the famous and respected Elder of the Wolf Clan of the Seneca people told by Lee Nitsch her daughter-in-law, with additional flute, drum and rattle playing by Bob Nitsch, her son.

The nine stories are tales of how the Seneca Iroquois Clans got their names, and after the introductory story, each one tells about a ‘decree’ or teaching about right conduct. These are the Hawk, Snipe, Beaver, Turtle, Wolf, Bear, Deer and Heron decrees. But the stories are not really about the animals, they are about the ‘medicine qualities’ of the Clans they give their names to, and the part of the circle of lore that each Clan holds, They are beautifully and skillfully told by Lee, and are rich in teachings and meaning. A delight for all ages.
